D2D Partnership with Sheway – Van Reveal Today marked a special moment for the D2D team, the reveal of the van which we worked so hard to fundraise for. The seed of our partnership with Sheway was planted back in January, when the D2D team came together to meet about the film festival for the first time. To make this event more profound, we decided to choose an overarching theme we’d like to deliver with the films. Many ideas were tossed around, but eventually the global chaos of 2016 helped us settle on the idea of “shared humanity.” We wanted to use the medium of film and the occasion of our festival to remind everyone of the goodness that we...
D2D Hong Kong Team Fundraising Recognition
Kudos to our Hong Kong team's support for making this possible. Through money collected in our clothing drive and personal donations, the D2D Destiny Foundation raised $10,752 back in July. At S.U.C.C.E.S.S Foundation's Walk with the Dragon celebration dinner, the D2D Destiny team was recognized for our efforts and won the Gold Top Fundraising Award for our contribution.
Hospital visits aren't normally our highlight of the day, but it was different this time around. Following our recent donation of $10,000 towards VGH & UBC Hospital's purchase of Omnicell automated dispensing machines, we received the opportunity to tour the hospital’s Emergency Department this Tuesday. Our tour was led by Dr. Chad Kim Sing, Head of the Emergency Department at VGH & UBC Hospital. Dr. Kim Sing's desire to encourage a culture of philanthropy was shown through his willingness to give us a candid look into the urgent needs of the hospital. Click here to catch a glimpse of life in the ER! We couldn’t leave without snapping a picture with Dr. Kim Sing and the Omnicell machine! As Dr. Kim Sing explained, the...
This summer, our team took some time off and traveled to Vancouver. Aside from visiting family and friends, we also made sure to support some local charities - one of which is the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.
The 2017 S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon event is recognized as BC's largest family scenic walk and festival. Every year, this event rallies over 13,000 participants who enjoy a 3km or 7km walk along the Stanley Park seawall. Fundraising proceeds from this event are used to support S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs that benefit youth, women, families, and elderlies.
Through money collected from donating 150 bags of clothing and personal contributions, we raised a total of $10,752.46 for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation!
One Country One Film Vancouver Festival Congratulations to Cici Fan and Desmond Lum in successfully organizing the One Country One Film Vancouver Festival! This event was in support of the Sheway program of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. The event raised $138,339 to help the community and improve medical services for pregnant women and children in the downtown eastside area. Proceeds from the festival will help Sheway purchase a new passenger van. We'd like to extend special thanks to One Country One Film France for cooperating with us and giving us such a wonderful opportunity. Also, shoutout to our volunteer team for making the day run so smoothly! You may watch our OCOF Film Festival Co-Chairs Cici Fan and Desmond...
