On August 10, 2015, it was announced that Stephanie Chan won the Gold Medal for Table Tennis at the Parapan American Games!
Stephanie represents Richmond, B.C., and is the first female table-tennis player from Canada participating in the Paralympics.
At the young age of 4, Stephanie acquired her disability. She grew up with a personal interest in table-tennis, and started to play the sport professionally at the age of 44.
As Stephanie expressed, being an athlete in Canada has its difficulties. The Government has limited funding set aside for training - meaning that Stephanie has to dig into her personal savings to afford to continue in this career.
Two members of our Youth Leadership Team, Cici Fan and Desmond Lum, were inspired by Stephanie's story. As a result, they decided to start their fundraising campaign - the "Donation of Love" Rio Paralympic Campaign.
All items sold on the E-store will be 100% donated to support Stephanie's training fee before her 2016 Rio Paralympic.
How it works in 3 simple steps:
- Donate brand-new or lightly-used products to our e-Philanthropy Store
- Invite at least one friend to follow along
- Support Stephanie in paying for her training expenses. 100% of net proceeds will be donated to help Stephanie in her Paralympic journey!
